Tips On How To Avoid Injuries When Getting Fit & Healthy

Many of us who were in pretty good shape before the Covid19 pandemic have now become overweight and sedentary people. We were used to doing exercise outside and amongst other people and when that option was taken away from us, many of us decided to hang up our running shoes and just wait until everything was over. The expectation was that we were going to be able to deal with the issue and it would all be resolved in a matter of months. The opposite was in fact true and now 2 ½ years later, we are still not at the end of it all. It has gotten better and now we are able to get back out there and to get ourselves back into shape again. The thing to remember is that people are going to be keen to exercise and they may fail to warm up and take other precautions which will result in some kind of sports injury.

The good news is if that does happen to you, you can get professional physiotherapy in Rouse Hill to get you back on your feet again but it would make far more sense if you didn’t have to make the appointment with these professionals in the first place. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t visit your local physiotherapist even when you’re feeling good anyway because they can provide you with excellent advice on how to avoid injury. They can also provide you with essential massages to keep your body limber so that you don’t experience any injuries in the first place. To make sure that you don’t hurt yourself while starting your new exercise routine the following are just some tips to help you.

  • Remember to rest – I am sure you are keen to get out there and start exercising as soon as possible, but you need to remember that you haven’t done this in quite some time and so you need to make sure that you set aside some time to rest and to gather your thoughts. Do not think about working out seven days a week continuously because you will end up experiencing an injury no doubt. Take at least one day off every single week to allow your body to restore your energy levels to get you ready for your workout the next day.
  • Invest in sports gear – Many people think that they can just pull on an old pair of tennis shoes and go for a run and while you can, there is a higher likelihood that you’re going to experience an injury and this will stop you from working out for a couple of weeks. Always make sure that you use the right kind of sports gear no matter what kind of sporting activity that you want to take part in. Also be sure to make sure that you do a proper warm-up before you begin any exercise as this will help with your overall flexibility.

These are only two pieces of advice and believe me when I tell you that there are many more. Make sure that you are always using the right kind of technique when doing your activity and remember that if you feel pain, just don’t push through it and go see your local physiotherapist.
